Who We Are
Our Background
From its beginning, Washington Apostolic Church has been a blessing to many within its surrounding communities where lives have been touched by the power of Christ and hearts transformed.
Over 34 years ago Pastor Lozano, on military orders was relocated to the DC metro area where he would report for duty at the Pentagon. Already a minister, he responded to God’s call and began to pastor a small congregation in the District of Columbia of only four people. The church would soon after move to a rented gymnasium at Thomas Jefferson public school in the 1980s. During a period spanning more than a decade up to 2003, the church moved three more times to Columbia Pike, Ballston, and a warehouse in Springfield, VA before landing at its current permanent home in 2003. The new facility, located on Braddock Road in Fairfax Virginia has allowed the church ministries to grow and expand.
The church has been blessed with many talented individuals whom have been instruments of God to provide for a spiritually uplifting atmosphere actively engaged in various ministries such as evangelism, missions, teaching, the arts, and music.
Washington Apostolic Church is a vibrant home to over three hundred members in this multi-cultural region. We welcome all people and nationalities. In addition to our American members, our congregation includes people from more than a dozen Latin American countries including Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Uruguay, Chile, Nicaragua, Belize, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, Bolivia.
Church structure
The church is comprised of family groups, outreach, evangelism, and serving programs. The family groups include an active and hard-working women’s group, a dedicated and contributing men’s group, an engaged and dynamic youth and singles group, an energetic juniors group, and lively children’s groups. Each family group has a leadership board intended to coordinate activities for spiritual growth and plan social events within each group. The outreach programs seek to help the community, sharing not only the spiritual but physical food as well. The evangelism’s group purpose is to spread the gospel via different programs; such as radio, door to door evangelism, missions in other countries and home bible studies. We encourage serving Christ and one another and we offer a variety of opportunities to serve, such as ushers, kitchen duty, maintenance and administrative support.
